Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from people exploring what it’s like to work with Finicky Technologies Ltd.

Q: How can having a website benefit my business?

A website gives your business a place online where people can learn about what you offer, your services, as well as how to contact you. This online presence means that people can discover your business through internet searches and other online tools when they are looking for businesses like yours, giving you more opportunities to attract new customers, build trust, and increase sales.

Q: What type of websites do you build?

Two main types — a straightforward website that presents your business well (a “brochure” site, so to speak, with relevant information about your product or service), or a more powerful web application that lets your visitors actually do things: log in, make payments, receive a reminder, book something, manage an account, etc. The right one depends on what your business model will require the site to do for you.

Q: How do you approach security for your websites?

Security is built in at every level. Your site is encrypted end-to-end (the padlock you see in a browser address bar), only the right people can access sensitive areas, and your data is protected even at the storage level — so information stays private and accounted for.

Q: How long does it take to build a website?

It depends on what we agree the finished website needs to do. Once we’ve scoped that out together, a typical worst-case timeline is about 3-4 weeks.

Q: What other features can a website have?

It really comes down to what your business needs, but common additions include the ability to accept payments online, automatic notifications to keep your customers updated, and an admin dashboard so you can manage everything yourself without needing a developer for every small change.

Q: What do I need to get started?

1 or 2 example websites you like the look of is a great starting point, along with having your business process clearly defined, which will help guide how we plan out what goes into your site. You’ll also need hosting sorted out from the start (we will help with this), since that’s what actually gets your site live online, and it’s worth knowing that costs like this continue even after launch, not just during the build.
